2023 Kia Sorento – EPA-estimated MPG chart

The reason that different models have different fuel economy ratings is mainly differences in powertrain and drivetrain features. Some engine types of more fuel efficient, and front-wheel drive tends to use less fuel than all-wheel drive. You can see these trends in the chart below, which shows the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of the 2023 Kia Sorento.

Which 2023 Kia Sorento trim level is the most fuel-efficient?

A higher mpg rating means that the vehicle can drive further on the fuel you put into it (hence, more miles per gallon). In the chart above, the FWD models are more fuel efficient than the AWD models, and the 2.5 GDI I-4 engine comes in slightly ahead of the 2.5T GDI I-4 model when it comes to FWD models driving in the city. Therefore, the best model would have FWD and a 2.5 GDI engine. If that’s the model you’re looking for, let us know.

Should I get a FWD model for improved fuel economy?

It can be a tough choice between FWD and AWD. FWD gets a better fuel economy rating but less traction. Driving in the winter, it might be more important for you to have more traction than fuel efficiency since the cost of a car accident can far outweigh the cost of fuel. It’s your choice, and we can help you weigh your options here at Matt Castrucci Kia.
