2018 Kia Optima New Features
The Kia Optima represents an intrepid entry into the midsize sedan class. Although stagnant veteran class players have lowered the bar (especially in the area of design), the Kia Optima seeks to thrill and delight. Eye-catching and full of personality, the Kia Optima has never resigned itself to be just a “smart choice.”
The Kia Optima wants to be loved, and it makes that really easy.
How is the 2018 Kia Optima Different from the 2017 Model?
- All trim levels get the improved 7-inch touchscreen standard with UVO eServices and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
- All trim levels receive standard active safety features:
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD) – Scans blind spots during lane-changes to ensure that the lane is open and clear
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) – When backing up, scans the lane into which you’re backing to ensure that it is open and clear. Especially helpful as we get closer to the holidays and stores/mall parking lots are packed full of cars.
- Rear Parking Assist System (RPAS) – Using sensors, your 2018 Kia Optima is able to sense an object behind the vehicle during reverse gear motion. This helps avoid hitting stationery objects, and could even prevent catastrophic collisions between your Optima and a pedestrian.
- A convenience package is available for the base, LX 2.4L trim model which includes:
- Laminated windows on the front doors
- Power front windows
- 10-way power driver’s seat
- The next level, the S 2.4L trim, receives an available panoramic sunroof package.
- One level up, at the LX 1.6T trim, drivers receive a standard 10-way power driver’s seat, laminated front door windows and a beautiful leather-wrapped steering wheel.
- The EX 2.4L trim receives single projection headlights (which replace the more complicated and less-stylish dual projection headlights from 2017.
- Finally, the SX 2.0L Turbo trim receives a massive injection of standard convenience features, including:
- LED fog lights
- Panoramic sunroof
- 10-way power front passenger’s seat
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- UVO3 infotainment system
- Additionally, the SXL 2.0T is no longer a trim level! Take heart, these features are still available in the SX Limited Package add-on, reducing their cost!
